Need to Know About Cabin Charters and Gulets:

  • Gulets are not cruise ships! They are small, intimate, and authentic.
  • Gulets used for cabin charters have 6 to 8 cabins.
  • The average size of a cabin-charter gulet is approximately 32–34 meters (100–110 ft) long and 8 meters (26 ft) wide.
  • The design and dimensions of gulets allow them to navigate shallow waters, accessing secluded bays and coves unreachable by cruise liners. Many of these hidden locations aren't accessible by car either.
  • Cabins aboard gulets vary in shape and size, and are hardly standard.
  • Cabins on luxury charter gulets typically measure around 100 square feet, including the bathroom.
  • Life on a gulet is slow, leisurely, and excellent for a relaxing vacation.
  • While the overall route is predetermined, specific daily itineraries depend on sea and wind conditions. The captain makes the final decisions.
  • Activities may include exploring ancient ruins, enjoying marine life, sightseeing in coastal towns and villages, or participating in water sports and parasailing. For instance, cruising the Göcek Islands offers excellent water sports opportunities, while the Lycian Coast provides fascinating historical excursions.
  • During the day, you'll enjoy swimming, snorkeling, or relaxing onboard; at night, you'll usually anchor in serene bays or coves.
  • The most memorable moments of a gulet vacation are often the unexpected thrills. Eating fresh fish caught off the side of the boat, seeing a shooting star before falling asleep on deck, kayaking with sea turtles, or mastering the paddle board.
  • A typical day begins with a fresh Turkish breakfast, followed by relaxation as the crew cleans up. The captain will then pull anchor and cruise to a new anchorage, offering opportunities for sightseeing or short hikes ashore. After returning to the boat for lunch, you'll have more leisure time for swimming, reading, or napping. Late afternoon generally involves cruising toward another scenic anchorage, accompanied by snacks. If conditions permit, the crew might even raise sails. Before nightfall, the captain selects a safe location to anchor overnight, allowing you to unwind while dinner is prepared. The evening meal, typically served as darkness falls, often turns into a leisurely multi-course feast. When ready, retire to your cabin or sleep under the stars on deck, waking refreshed for another peaceful day.
  • Cabin charters cater to all travelers—families, groups of friends, couples, and solo adventurers. They are ideal for those who enjoy meeting new people, travelers seeking solitude might prefer the exclusivity of a private charter.
