Ephesus

Day trip to the ancient cities of Miletus, Priene and Didyma

Enjoy an equally rewarding but quiter day compared to Ephesus.

Miletus – once a prosperous harbor city and the birthplace of Western philosphy  —notably with the Milesian School of thinkers, Thales, Anaximander, and Anaximenes.

Priene – first city to have a grid plan with city blocks, parallel streets intersecting at precise right angles, and clearly defined public and residential spaces.

Didyma – home of Temple of Apollo, oracle and religious sanctuary dedicated to Apollo, it was a site of prophecy. Built at the same period as the Parthenon, but much larger in scale-almost twice the size-, making it the largest ancient marble temple.

Walking: moderate

The tour covers all highlights of trio, including the impressive theatre, Baths of Faustina, 14th century Ilyas Bey Mosque complex in Miletus; temple of Athena, bouleterion, agora, residential blocks and grids in Priene; and the impressive Temple of Apollo in Didyma.

Your guide will meet you at the cruise port or at another location you choose, after which you will drive south for your exploration.
