Itinerary Details
Day 1: FETHIYE – KAYAKÖY – ÖLÜDENİZ
You will meet your guide and private support vehicle at Dalaman Airport, then head to Fethiye to begin your journey. Your introduction to the Lycians starts with a hike to the iconic Tomb of Amyntas, a fine example of a rock-cut tomb — monumental burial chambers carved into the cliff, their façades imitating grand temples with columns. Following the old Greek cobbled road, ascend to Kayaköy, a village resting quietly on a sunlit hillside framed by green slopes, with glimpses of the turquoise Mediterranean in the distance. You will walk narrow paths and pass silent walls eventually leading you back down the slope to Blue Lagoon at Ölüdeniz. Optionally, you can extend your walk to the ruins of the 11th-century Afkule Monastery (Monastery of Mercy). According to the legend, it was built by St. Eleftherios who lived in repentance with his followers.
In Ölüdeniz, enjoy a swim in the deep sapphire waters of the lagoon before you call it a day.
You can limit your hike to 7 km, extend it to 14 km, or challenge yourself with a 21 km walk with minimal support from your private vehicle.
Walking distance: It can be from 7 to 21 km (decide on the spot)
Altitude change: ±689 m
Sleep in Ölüdeniz.
Day 2: OVACIK – KIRME – BUTTERFLY VALLEY - FARALYA
After breakfast, your vehicle will drive you to the starting point of today’s trail. Today is an enjoyable escape from the tourist areas and into epic paths with great views of the sea and the mountains, through an environment changing from forests to mountains, and then coastal trails. Calm tortoises, lovely lizards, and colorful butterflies will be your buddies. Your path will traverse the skirts of Mt. Babadağ with sweeping views of Ölüdeniz, the Blue Lagoon. Following a caravan route, the trail passes through Kozağaç and Kirme before descending toward Faralya. For an added thrill, detour to the cliffs above the Butterfly Valley, a dramatic gorge enclosed by sheer rock cliffs which takes you to a magical realm, where the color of water at the shoreline shifts from pale aquamarine to deep cobalt. The valley takes its name from the many butterfly species that visit in summer. It is accessible only by boat or by a steep descent from the cliffs above— you can trek down or simply enjoy the view from the rim.
Return to your Ölüdeniz retreat with a short drive or boat ride.
Walking distance: It can be from 13 to 16 km (decide on the spot)
Altitude change: ± 650 m
Sleep in Ölüdeniz.
Day 3: FARALYA · KABAK · PARADISE BEACH · ALINCA · SIDYMA
Today blends hikes through some of the finest paths of the Lycian Way with short drives that cut out the most tiring yet least rewarding sections, preserving your energy for the highlights.
Your private vehicle will take you to Faralya to pick up the trail where you left off the previous day. The walk to Kabak is a gentle warm-up, offering rich scenery — a blend of pine forest, open sea views, glimpses into hidden coves, and the quiet rhythm of village life. Kabak is known for its secluded yoga retreats and laid-back atmosphere.
After catching your breath, continue by vehicle to the tranquil Paradise Beach for a swim in clear turquoise water and a leisurely lunch. You’ll then return to Kabak to begin the second hike of the day — the trail climbing steadily to Alınca, a village perched high on a hillside with commanding views over the Seven Capes. At any point, you have the option to hop into your vehicle instead of walking the entire route.
From Alınca, you will drive the last stretch to Sidyma to conserve your energy for exploring. Here, a modern village stands atop the remains of an ancient city. Wander among Lycian-style sarcophagi set among farmhouses and gardens, see temple remains with elegant column drums lying in the grass, and come across fragments of civic buildings and bath complexes, scattered quietly through the fields.
Walk: Faralya – Kabak · 6–8 km
Drive: Kabak to Paradise Beach and back
Walk: Kabak – Alınca · 12 km
Drive: Alınca to Sidyma
Walking distance: It can be from 8 to 20 km (decide on the spot)
Altitude change: +750 m / –165 m
Sleep in a village house in Dodurga or return to Ölüdeniz.
Day 4: DODURGA - YEDİBURUNLAR
After a hearty village breakfast at Dodurga, you will resume your walk to Yediburunlar. You will go through rural lanes and stony footpaths, passing fields, orchards, and patches of pine forest. As the route changes between open hillsides and shaded stretches, the Mediterranean comes into view as you approach the ridge. Before the end of the walk, the expansive view will reveal all of the Seven Capes (Yediburunlar) — a dramatic series of headlands reaching far into the Mediterranean. The hike finishes in Yediburunlar village. It is a small rural community of scattered houses, guesthouses, and working farms. The village takes its name from the capes that dominate the horizon, and from its elevated position the views stretch for miles along the Lycian Coast. This is one of the most panoramic points on the western Lycian Way, and a fitting statement to finish your adventure.
After a homemade lunch in the village, transfer to the airport or move on to your next destination.
